An experienced piano instructor, I've taught lessons to children and adult students of all ages and assorted levels, from young children just entering school to adult beginners, retired professionals and return students. I tailor each lesson to best meet that student's unique strengths and ultimate goals for piano study. My hope is that a student experiences and enjoys excelling in their piano-playing skills. My early formal education includes study at the Interlochen Arts Academy, Brandeis University and Juilliard. I pursued graduate study in music theory and performance and was a student of Béla Böszörményi-Nagy. Most recently I have been studying advanced harmonic analysis privately at NEC. Teacher workshops with a focus on teaching classical piano to young children include Dalcroze Eurythmics and the Suzuki Method. In my early years, I enjoyed classical piano study and competition, and soloed with a symphony orchestra at the age of 16.
For very young students, the Suzuki teaching method offers a more interactive approach. It's essential that a parent be at every lesson and at every practice session at home.
